May events at the County Connection
Free seminars and programs offered throughout the month
NEPTUNE, NJ – The Monmouth County Connection will host several informative programs for residents during the month of May, covering a variety of issues including senior health, gardening and family genealogy.
“The County Connection is an excellent resource for our residents,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone. “Not only do they have access to passport services and free notary public, but they also offer programs and seminars covering everything from gardening to health. All of which is free of cost.”
The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Monmouth County will sponsor “Annuals: What Grows Best in NJ” on Wednesday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to noon. Master Gardener Cheryl Grant will describe a wide variety of annual plants and provide basic descriptions, planting and growing information.
The County Department of Health will present a “Healthy Seniors Seminar” on Wednesday, May 8 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Seniors can learn how vitamins and minerals can affect them, the five most important questions to ask their doctors and other facts about staying healthy.
“We try to offer seminars in the evenings whenever possible to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to attend at least one of our monthly programs,” said County Clerk M. Claire French, who oversees the County Connection. “We are fortunate to have so many departments that are willing to sponsor a wide range of programs for our residents.”
On Wednesday May 15 from 6 to 7 p.m. the County Clerk’s Office is sponsoring a lecture by the Monmouth Genealogical Society, “Genealogy 101: Organizing Research,” where residents can learn creative and efficient ways to best organize their family’s research.
The County Office on Aging will offer an “Intro to Medicare Advantage & Part D” seminar on Wednesday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to noon.
The County Connection also offers the following recurring programs every month:
Meet with a Medicare Counselor, every Wednesday, noon to 3 p.m.Meet with a Monmouth County Surrogate’s Officer, first and third Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.Meet with Monmouth County Department of Consumer Affairs, second and fourth Thursday, noon to 3 p.m.
All programs are free and open to all Monmouth County residents, but registration is required. To register, please call 732-303-2828.
“I encourage residents to take advantage of the services provided by the County Connection,” said Freeholder Lillian G. Burry. “With the office’s convenient location, free services, and night and weekend hours, there is no reason not to stop by and see what they have to offer.”
The Monmouth County Connection is located at 3544 State Highway 66 in Neptune, adjacent to the Home Depot and across the street from Walmart. This office of Monmouth County government offers a variety of services including passports, passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers and more.
The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M. Claire French and is supported by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
